The Italy 1994 Home Shirt features the famous azzurro blue body carrying a tone on tone shadow print of the federation logo, repeated large across the fabric so the pattern only catches the light as you turn it. A blue fold over polo collar tops the shirt and the light, slightly shiny Diadora polyester of the period gives it the boxy, roomy cut typical of the mid nineties.
The FIGC crest sits on the left chest with its three gold edged stars and the stylised letter i introduced in 1992, and a row of green, white and red triangles runs along the collar edge and the sleeve cuffs in place of the older tricolour striping. As a national team shirt it carries no sponsor across the chest, so the shadow print, the crest and the tricolour trim carry the whole design.
On the back, Maldini is printed above the number 5 in original style printing, in the rounded italic numerals with a drop shadow that Diadora used for this tournament. He represented the Italian defender during the 1994 World Cup campaign that ended in the final, a composed and elegant left sided defender remembered for his reading of the game and his flawless timing.
