ADIDAS SHIRTS

Three stripes on the shoulder are the easiest brand mark in football, and Adidas wore them longer than almost anyone: Real Madrid's Galácticos, Germany's back-to-back finals, Argentina under both Maradona and Messi. Every shirt here is original to its own season, nothing reissued.

Three stripes, unmistakable since the seventies

Adidas built its football identity around one detail: three stripes running down the sleeve or shoulder seam, present on shirts from the 1970s onward regardless of what else changed in the design around them. The trefoil logo that marked most of the brand's shirts through the 1980s and early 1990s gave way to the plain three-bar performance logo from around 1997, a useful marker for dating a shirt at a glance. That consistency is why Adidas reads instantly even without a visible badge, and it holds across the stock here, from Argentina's 1994 home shirt worn during Maradona's last World Cup to AC Milan's 2011-12 season under Ibrahimovic.

Real Madrid and the Galácticos era

Nobody wore more Adidas in this collection than Real Madrid. The stock runs through the Galácticos years: Zidane's 2001-02 and 2004-05 home shirts, Beckham's 2005-06 season, Ronaldo's arrival in 2003-04 and Roberto Carlos throughout. It is a run of jerseys from the period when Real Madrid's transfer policy made as many headlines as its results, all cut to the same three-stripe template Adidas used across its whole stable of clubs.

Germany and Argentina at international level

The brand's national team deals show up just as strongly. Germany appears across the Matthaus and Ballack generations, including the 1994-96 home shirt from Matthaus's captaincy and Ballack's 2005-07 kit. Argentina spans Maradona's 1994 shirt through to Messi's early caps in 2006-07, a twelve-year gap that shows how little the core silhouette changed even as the fabric technology under it kept moving.

AC Milan, Bayern Munich and the rest of the stable

Beyond the two headline teams, AC Milan runs from a 1990-91 home shirt through to the Kaka and Shevchenko years, and Bayern Munich covers both Ballack and Ribery. Ajax shirts sit at the more recent end, including a 2022-23 third shirt worn by Tadic. Together they trace Adidas from the boxier, woven cut of the early 1990s to the tighter, lighter jerseys of the 2010s.

From woven jersey to Climacool

What separates an early-90s Adidas shirt from a 2010s one is mostly the fabric. The older jerseys are woven, heavier, with a fixed collar and stitched crest, built for a slower game. By the mid-2000s Climacool ventilation panels and lighter knit fabric started appearing, cutting the weight noticeably, and the crest and sponsor moved from embroidery to sublimated print on the newest pieces in this collection. Handling a few side by side, as the range here allows, makes the shift obvious in a way photos alone do not.

Good to know

How can I date an Adidas shirt by its logo?
A woven trefoil logo points to the 1980s or early 1990s, while the plain three-bar performance logo became standard from around 1997 onward.
Why do so many different clubs share the same three-stripe template?
Adidas used a shared shoulder and sleeve design across most of its contracted clubs and countries in a given era, only changing the colours and crest.
Which players show up most in this Adidas collection?
Zidane and Beckham at Real Madrid, Maradona and Messi for Argentina, and Matthaus and Ballack for Germany are all represented across different seasons.
Are these shirts originals or modern retro remakes?
Every shirt is an original from its own season, checked by hand before listing, never a reproduction or a modern reissue.
Is shipping free?
Shipping is free within the Netherlands and Belgium from 100 euros, and worldwide from 150 euros. Everything ships with track and trace.
