A large shirt from a boxy 1980s cut, a looser nineties Umbro template like Beckham's Manchester United away shirts from 1999-2000 and 2000-01, and a slimmer 2000s jersey such as Messi's 2004-05 Barcelona home shirt can all carry the same L on the label while measuring quite differently pit to pit. Match a size L to your own measurements
