The club organised a design competition in 2024, allowing supporters to submit their own ideas for the anniversary shirt. Out of nearly 500 entries from over 250 designers, four final designs were selected for a public vote. The winning design was created by Arthur, a passionate Arminia supporter with a background in media design. His concept received 39.2% of the votes and was brought to life in collaboration with Macron. Arthur worked closely with the club to finalise the details of the shirt, including the embossed historic logos integrated into the fabric. The shirt is strictly limited to 1,905 pieces, a reference to the club’s founding year. It will be worn in the anniversary match against Dynamo Dresden on May 3rd, 2025, exactly 120 years after Arminia Bielefeld was founded.
Arthur shared his excitement about the project, saying: “I’m very happy with the final kit. It was really fun to work on it together with the club. My highlight is the logos, which were not just printed on, but embossed into the fabric.”
Arminia Bielefeld's History of Special Edition Shirts
This is not the first time Arminia Bielefeld has released a special kit to celebrate an important moment. In the 2022-2023 season, the club launched a black shirt with white details to honour the 100th anniversary of their 1923 West German championship win. That kit featured the names of the legendary players from the 1923 team printed into the design, connecting past glory with the present-day club. In 2023, Arminia Bielefeld also released a shirt dedicated to club legend Fabian Klos, who became the club's all-time appearance leader with over 409 matches. This special shirt featured Klos's image and signature, making it a must-have for supporters.
